InScribe Christian Writer's Fellowship

As a writer, I belong to a few associations and I subscribe to a number of publications that help to improve my craft.

Years ago, I was a regular subscriber to Writer's Digest magazine. I found it an excellent resource on all things writing. However, there were two main elements missing; Canadian content and Christian content. This is where the FellowScript InScribe newsletter excels.

My membership in InScribe comes with a free subscription to this excellent resource. Published four times a year, it's full of useful information and tidbits for writers at every stage of their career.

Take the most recent newsletter for example. It has feature spots such as: How to coordinate your own virtual book tour; 10 things to do when you're not writing; The misunderstood semicolon; and How to begin co-writing. I highlighted and dog-eared many paragraphs and made notes to self in the margin.

FellowScript also offers regular columns on devotional, poetry, freelance, and fiction writing, blogging, computers, and marketing. This is something I look forward to with each issue. I feel like I've gotten to know the contributors through their writing; even when I haven't met many of them.

Another bonus of the newsletter is the connections with other InScribe members. I cheer along with those who have books recently released. I read along with the biographies of long-term members. I get the "best of" from the discussion forum.

Lastly, I feel "in the loop" with all the happenings and events across the country such as 2011 members' only contest; InScribe InSpiration groups; and 2011 ICWF Fall Conference.

It really does stimulate, encourage and support Christians across Canada who write. Join Inscribe and get yours today!

During the month of July, various Inscribers will be posting some of their thoughts and stories about ICWF on their blogs. The tour kicked off on July 4 with a stop at ICWF President Jack Popjes' blog, and will wind up on July 27 at member Jan Keats' blog.

Visit tour stops before mine:
July 4 – Jack Popjes – INsights and OUTbursts

July 5 – Tracy Krauss – Expressions Express

July 6 – Marcia Laycock – Spurts

July 8 – Mary Waind – Beech Croft Tales

July 11 – Bonnie Way – The Koala Bear Writer

July 13 – Karen Toews – Toews on the Run

I encourage you to stop by Violet's blog next to see what she has to say about ICWF. Upcoming tour stops:

July 18 – Violet Nesdoly – Line Upon Line

July 22 – Janet Sketchley – God With Us: Finding Joy

July 25 – Laureen Guenther – Reenie's Resources

July 27 – Janice Keats – The Master’s Path

Leave comments on the blog posts to be entered in our GRAND PRIZE DRAW: an Inscribe book bag with a free annual membership and a copy of Inscribed: 30 Years of Inspiring Writing. The more blogs you comment on, the more entries you'll get in the draw—e.g., if you comment on 10 blogs, you'll get 10 entries in the draw (but one comment per blog, please). Contest is open only to non-members of Inscribe.

Kimberley, I've always said the FellowScript subscription is worth the price of membership. (And not because I was acquisitions editor for quite a while! It impressed me from the first issue I received.)

I agree whole heartedly with Janet! I enjoy Fellowscript from cover to cover AND there's something nice about reading a real magazine instead of all the online stuff!!
